REFLECTIONS ON THE FILM

Darwin would have loved this! This wonderful series of films is hosted by such a
talented teacher that I wanted to sit in the classroom again (or possibly bike around
from place to place learning from the experts he interviewed). The story of evolution is
given a truly exciting twist—it is explained with original animal or fossil specimens by
biologists who have a real understanding of how natural selection works today. Clever
animations and visuals help us along. And the astonishing back history of the two men
who independently discovered the idea so many years ago, Charles Darwin and Alfred
Russel Wallace, is told with great insight. I would warmly recommend the films to
anyone who wants to know more about the meaning of the natural world and how the
idea of evolution holds it all together.
